23 CELEBS WHO TOOK THE PLUNGE DURING A GLOBAL PANDEMIC

The Offices of National Statistics for England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland (ONS) noted that over 260,000 weddings were postponed during the pandemic combined with the fact that usually, 278,000 weddings take place every year, which means nearly half a million weddings were due to take place over 2021 and 2022. That’s a lot of wedding cake! 

Many couples opted for much smaller affairs and with travel restrictions, many had their guest numbers limited. But with the hashtag #loveisnotcancelled going around, people found something to cling to because what’s more joyful in dark times than a wedding?

Celebrities, however, often go big no matter what they do, so let’s take a look at 23 celebrity couples that got married in 2021 and those weddings we should be looking out for in 2022.

#1 Paris Hilton and Carter Reum

Socialite, businesswoman, model, singer, DJ, and actress Paris Hilton married venture capitalist Carter Rerum on 11 November 2021 after getting engaged back in February. The venue was the former Bel Air estate of Paris’s late grandfather, Barron Hilton.  

 

#2 Christina Ricci and Mark Hampton

Actress Christina Ricci is known for playing Wednesday Addams in The Addams Family married hairstylist Mark Hampton on 9 October 2021 at the storefront chapel in Van Nuys, California, two months after announcing they were expecting a child together (her second). They welcomed their daughter in December 2021.

 

#3 Ivy Getty and Tobias Engel

Socialite, heiress, artist, and model Ivy Getty, also known as the great-granddaughter of J Paul Getty, married photographer Tobias Engel in a ceremony officiated by Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi at City Hall in San Francisco in November 2021 in a lavish four-day celebration. Her maid of honour was none other than Queen’s Gambit actress, Anya Taylor-Joy. She also welcomed other celebrities, artists, filmmakers, politicians, and even royalty!

 

#4 Adam DeVine and Chloe Bridges

Pitch Perfect actor, Adam DeVine, and Pretty Little Liars actress, Chloe Bridges, wed on 10 October 2021 in Mexico.

  

#5 Ariana Grande and Dalton Gomez

Singer Ariana Grande made it official on 15 May 2021 with luxury home realtor Dalton Gomez. They married in Montecito, an hour outside of LA, at Ariana’s home just five months after announcing their engagement in December 2020.

 

#6 Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton

Country singer Blake Shelton and singer-songwriter Gwen Stefani (formerly of the 90s band No Doubt) said “I do” on 23 July 2021 at Blake’s Oklahoma ranch. 

 

 

#7 Heather Rae Young and Tarek El Moussa

For those of you who watch Selling Sunset, you’ll know all about Heather Rae Young and her engagement in July 2020 to American HGTV star, Tarek El Moussa who is known for co-hosting the popular show, Flip or Flop, alongside his ex-wife Christina Haack. They wed on 23 October 2021 at Miramar Beach in Montecito.

 

#8 Lily Collins and Charlie McDowell

Emily in Paris actress and daughter of famous Genesis musician Phil Collins, Lily Collins and filmmaker Charlie McDowell wed on 4 September 2021 at Dunton Hot Springs in Colorado. Charlie is the son of actress Mary Steenburgen (now married to The Good Place actor Ted Danson) and actor Malcolm McDowell.

 

 

#9 Elizabeth Olsen and Robbie Arnett 

Wandavision star, Elizabeth Olsen (and older sister to the Olsen Twins, Marykate and Ashley) said “I do” to Milo Greene singer Robbie Arnett. In an interview for Variety’s Actors on Actors series, Elizabeth let slip to her interviewer, actress Kaley Cuoco, that she has a “husband.” No details of her wedding or wedding date but she is now officially married.
