#8 WEEKEND “WITH THE GIRLS” CITIES WORTH A VISIT THIS YEAR

When thinking of getting the girls together for a weekend away, you may be thinking something along the lines of the Amalfi Coast, the south of France, or somewhere in Spain. But there are many exciting places in the UK from countryside escapes to city breaks to seaside resorts, there’s something to suit all your needs. Plus, you don’t need a passport or to wade through airport security. Here are eight perfect UK destinations for a girls’ weekend.

London

#1 London

Even if you live in London – especially if you live in London – there’s very little chance that you’ll explore all that the UK’s capital has to offer. London has a mix of eateries from boasting the most Michelin-starred restaurants in Britain to grabbing a burger at Shake Shack, there’s something to suit everyone’s budget. Plus, there are swanky cocktail bars, rooftop bars, and unique experiences to be had all over the city. For shopping, you can splurge on Oxford street or hit up retro and vintage shops on Brick Lane.

If you’re feeling more cultured or adventurous, you can go to a museum, or gallery, or take a walking (or bus) tour. There are easy transport links too, which is always a bonus.

Known for: sightseeing, shopping, bars, restaurants, bottomless brunches, history

Liverpool

#2 Liverpool

Pop your hair in rollers and don the sparkle! Liverpool is one of the great places for a girls’ weekend. You can visit the Royal Albert Dock for a cultural hotspot or some food and drinks. During the day, you can revisit the Beatles’ beginnings. At night, you can head to Concert Square or the Baltic Triangle.

In Liverpool, unlike in London, the bars and restaurants aren’t booked up for months so you can walk around and decide what to do on the spot.

Known for: Hip nightlife, food, shopping, the Beatles

Chester

#3 Chester

If you want a stylish weekend away, look no further than Chester. This small city is quaint with multiple shops, spas, and restaurants – perfect for unwinding in a place that’s smaller than your usual big city.

You can visit Roman walls, a medieval amphitheatre, Elizabethan timber-framed palaces, and cutting-edge architecture, all in one city. You can see the iconic Chester Cathedral, Chester Racecourse, and Chester Zoo. For a luxury spa, there’s the Carden Park Spa.

Known for: WAGs, restaurants, relaxation, shopping, spas

Bath

#4 Bath

Bath has Roman ruins, tea rooms, the Thermae Bath Spa, museums, and filming locations for Jane Austen adaptations and Bridgerton. You can feel like you’re living in the pages of a Regency-era novel while you visit Bath Abbey and the iconic Pulteney Bridge. Jane Austen fans will want to see the Jane Austen Centre.

There’s so much to do but much of it is doable in a weekend.

Edinburgh is simply a stunning city, especially when you see Edinburgh Castle lit up at night. Edinburgh boasts cobbled alleys dating back to the Middle Ages.
