Can I use it on my face?

TRIA Hair Removal Laser can be used by women to treat the upper lip and jaw, but must not be used to treat above the nose, as using the TRIA Laser on or around the eye can cause permanent eye injury. The TRIA Laser should not be used by men on their face. Because of the greater hair density, using the TRIA Laser on a man’s beard could cause skin injury.

What is the battery life?

The TRIA battery charges last about 30 minutes. This battery life allows users to stay focused and conscious of overlapping during treatment. A rule of thumb is that a single battery charge is enough to treat a bikini-line area or two underarms at the higher energy levels, or a much bigger area at the lower energy levels.*

Is my skin tone suitable for using the TRIA Laser?

The TRIA Hair Removal Laser is intended for people with light to medium skin tones. Darker skin tones can absorb too much laser light which can injure the skin. A skin tone chart can be found on our website, or, alternatively, a skin tone chart can be posted out to you. As an additional safety feature, the built-in skin sensor is designed to allow laser use only on suitable skin tones.

Is my hair colour suitable for using the TRIA Laser?

The TRIA Hair Removal Laser is designed to work on naturally light brown to black body hair. If you have white, blonde, red or grey hair at this time then the TRIA Laser is not suitable for you. The TRIA Laser works with the dark pigment in the hair, lighter hair colours such as white, blonde, red, or grey will not absorb enough of the laser's energy to disable the hair follicle.

Why do I have to shave?

When treating with the TRIA Hair Removal Laser, it’s important to shave the area closely and carefully right before treating as shaving greatly reduces any discomfort, because there is no hair above the skin to absorb the laser light, and allows the laser treatment to be most effective because the laser works on the hair inside the follicle, under the surface of the skin.

Can I do it more often than every 2 weeks?

We recommend that you use the TRIA Laser every two weeks for six months, and then once a month for the next couple of months or as needed. This is because, to be effective, the TRIA Laser needs to reach each hair follicle during its growth cycle, and as hair grows in cycles, not every hair can be treated at the same time.

Some users apply the TRIA Laser once a week, to ensure that they haven't missed any hairs, but we would not advise using the laser more than this, as it would not have any further effect.

How long does it take before I start seeing results?

After the first treatment, there will be no visible change to the hair or the appearance of the skin.

After two to three treatments, hair growth will begin to lighten and become finer.

After three months of treatment, you will see a visible reduction in the amount of re-growth, especially in areas where hair growth tends to be dense.

After 6-8 months of treatment, hair follicles that have been deactivated by the TRIA Laser will not grow back. Simply continue to use the TRIA Laser until your skin is completely smooth and hair-free-then, you’re done!

How to unlock the TRIA?

Here's how to unlock the TRIA Hair Removal Laser:

1. Unplug the TRIA Hair Removal Laser from the battery charger. Hold the device and press the power button to turn it on. The display window will show that it is locked by displaying a padlock.

2. The red light on the base of the laser is the skin sensor. Place the base of the laser on the skin in the area you wish to treat. The TRIA Skin Sensor will automatically sense and check your skin tone. If it’s safe for you to use the TRIA Laser, the TRIA Laser will emit a series of beeps and unlock.

If the lock is still visible on the display window and you do not hear a series of beeps, then the TRIA Laser may not be safe for your skin tone in that area. Or, you may be using the skin sensor incorrectly and need to try again. To try again, lift the skin sensor from your skin and follow the previous two steps. If you are still not able to unlock the TRIA Hair Removal Laser, contact Customer Services at 0800 0484 322 for assistance.

Note: When the TRIA Hair Removal Laser is not in use for approximately 3 minutes, the device will automatically turn off.

Can I share it?

The TRIA Hair Removal Laser is designed for personal use only. Sharing the device is not recommended for personal hygiene reasons.

Can I use the TRIA Laser on genitals?

The TRIA Hair Removal Laser can be used on the bikini line, but must not be used on the nipples, genitals or around the anus. These areas may have more sensitive skin, a darker skin tone and/or a greater hair density and using the TRIA Hair Removal Laser in these areas may cause serious skin injury.

Why can't I use it more often than every 2 weeks?

Using the TRIA Hair Removal Laser more often than every two weeks will not deliver faster results. Hair grows in cycles so not every hair can be treated at the same time. To be effective, the laser needs to reach each hair follicle during its growth cycle. For permanent results, treat the area once every two weeks for at least 6 months—until the hair stops growing back.

How soon would I see the result using the TRIA Skin Perfecting Blue Light?

Use the TRIA Skin Perfecting Blue Light just twice a day for 3 minutes and you should begin to have fewer breakouts and clearer skin in about two weeks. At four weeks, your skin should look healthier and more radiant.

Can I use the TRIA Skin Perfecting Blue Light if I have Rosacea? Acne scars? Other skin issues?

The TRIA Skin Perfecting Blue Light should be used for the treatment of mild to moderate acne. It can be used on all skin types to help eliminate acne-causing bacteria and clear acne spots without harshness.

Do not use the TRIA Skin Perfecting Blue Light to treat Rosacea, moles, warts, open sores, cancerous lesions, or any skin condition other than spots or acne.

Does the TRIA Skin Perfecting Blue Light get rid of sun spots?

The TRIA Skin Perfecting Blue Light does not get rid of sun spots. However the TRIA Skin Perfecting Serum contains Vitamin B which helps treat sun spots. It also works to minimise age spots and blotchiness.

Does the TRIA Skin Perfecting Blue Light get rid of wrinkles?

The TRIA Skin Perfecting Blue Light treats mild to moderate acne. TRIA's Advanced Skincare products leave skin looking healthy and radiant. We recommend using the TRIA Skin Perfecting Serum which contains Vitamin B Niacinamide and Vitamin A Retinyl Palmitate which works to improve skin tone, fine lines and wrinkles.

Can I use my own topicals with the TRIA Skin Perfecting Blue Light?

Yes, you can use your own topicals with the TRIA Skin Perfecting Blue Light, such as moisturiser, eye cream and sunblock but you can accelerate your skin's improvement with TRIA's Advanced Skincare products. The TRIA Skin Perfecting System includes the TRIA Skin Perfecting Blue Light paired with the exfoliating Skin Perfecting Foam Cleanser and the anti-aging Skin Perfecting Serum. Together, these products will cleanse, brighten and hydrate while the gentle blue light will eliminate acne-causing bacteria at the source.

How many minutes per day do I need to treat myself with the TRIA Skin Perfecting Blue Light?

Choose a treatment regimen that's most convenient for you. Either treat affected areas once a day for 6 minutes or treat twice a day and use the TRIA Skin Perfecting Blue Light for 3 minutes in the morning and 3 minutes at night. Choose whatever regime is easiest for you.

Do I use the TRIA Skin Perfecting Blue Light for 6 minutes on each area of the face?

Continuously and evenly glide the tip of the device over your face and treat for a total of 6 minutes. You can treat your entire face or concentrate on the areas that concern you the most, but the total treatment time for each day is 6 minutes.

If you have areas of concern, we would recommend focusing on these areas for half the treatment time, and then treating the rest of your face for the remaining time. This is because the P. Acnes bacteria that the laser treats can be found across the entire face, and if you only treat the problem areas, the bacteria could then be spread back into these areas by touch.

Why does the TRIA Skin Perfecting Blue Light need cartridges?

The TRIA Skin Perfecting Blue Light 2-month cartridge supplies the device with 60 days or 360 minutes of treatment. The cartridge activates the Blue Light device, allowing it to deliver professional levels of therapeutic blue light deep into the skin. When the cartridge runs out of minutes, the display will signal that it's time for a new cartridge.

Can I use Benzoyl Peroxide when using the Blue Light?

You can use Benzoyl Peroxide with the TRIA Skin Perfecting Blue Light but you may find you won't need it. The TRIA Skin Perfecting Blue Light works quickly and effectively by targeting acne-causing bacteria beneath the skin. It gently clears breakouts without harsh ingredients or harmful health effects and it has superior tolerability over leading acne treatments.
